I'm glad he's excited': Supergirl Melissa Benoist awkwardly responds to Jeb Bush calling her 'pretty hot'
Certainly the last thing Melissa Benoist expected was to become a hot topic in the 2016 presidential race.
But last week presidential hopeful Jeb Bush branded the Supergirl star as 'hot' during a campaign stop in Las Vegas.
The action-hero appeared a bit uncomfortable when a clip was played of Jeb explaining that during a workout at the gym he saw a trailer for the upcoming CBS show Supergirl.
'Supergirl is on TV – I saw that when I was working out this morning,' 62-year-old Jeb said. 'She looked pretty hot.'
'I don't know what channel it's on,' he added, 'but I am looking forward to it.'

Pressed to speak on the matter by hosts Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell, budding star Melissa said: 'I heard about it. You know I don't know what to think.'
But then quickly added, with a bit of humour: 'I'm glad he is excited to watch the show.'
In the same interview Melissa spoke about the importance of Supergirl being valued for her courage, character and heroism. While sex appeal was not a priority for her or the show runners.

The actress made the appearance ahead of the show's premiere on CBS on Monday October 26.
Supergirl follows Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El who was sent from Krypton before its destruction at age 12.
She will embrace her powers at age 24 as Kara Danvers after previously hiding them.

In a trailer for the show, Kara works as an assistant to a character played by Calista Flockhart.
Kara then decides to give up her quest for normalcy and test out her super powers when she hears on the news that her sister's flight is in trouble.
Melissa will no doubt be quizzed on the matter again when she appears on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Monday night.

The actress was spotted going into the studio in a sleeveless little black dress with a lacy bustier, darted skirt and a wide shiny black patent leather belt.
She teamed the outfit with black cut-away pumps that showed off the bicycle tattoo on her left foot.
After the show, it appeared the young star was a little peckish.
So she stopped for a take-away pizza and snacked on it in the car as she was chauffered home.

Meanwhile, Jeb appeared destined to waltz to the 2016 Republican nomination, but his presidential bid has been upended to the point that even his cherished family pedigree might not be enough to salvage his flagging campaign.
Trailing badly in the polls, reportedly slashing campaign payroll by 40 percent and scaling back on travel costs, Bush is now one of many middle-of-the-pack candidates in a wide GOP field, rather than the man Republicans would naturally gravitate to as they seek to win back the White House.
The former Florida governor drew big money early in the race, and an independent political group backing his campaign raised astronomical funds too.
