Supergirl | Melissa Benoist “is looking forward” to seeing Milly Alcock in the DCU
“I’m a fan of anyone who wears the cape,” declared the actress
Melissa Benoist can't wait to see Milly Alcock wearing the Supergirl costume in theaters. The actress, who played the heroine in the six seasons of the series that bore her name, aired between 2015 and 2021, spoke to Omelete to promote her new work, The Girls on the Bus.
Milly Alcock: "Luminous"

We took the opportunity to ask Benoist what advice she would give to the new Supergirl, and she declared: “I'm a fan of anyone who wears the cape. I think we all tried to do something new with the character, while also taking a lot of inspiration from each other. I know that my Supergirl was very inspired by Helen Slater's, for example... So, what I can say is that I'm looking forward to finding out what Milly will do with the character. I’ll be first in line at the cinema.”

Alcock was cast in the role of Supergirl by James Gunn, DC's current head of film. She's set to star in her own film, tentatively titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, soon - but she could also make her debut in Superman, which Gunn is readying for release on July 11, 2025.

The six seasons of Supergirl starring Melissa Benoist, meanwhile, remain available for streaming in the Netflix catalog. Now The Girls on the Bus, the actress's new series, will be shown on Max.
